About Jeanine

Hi, I’m Jeanine! I used to work the typical 8-5… and well, let’s just say it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. For years, I was investing all my energy into someone else’s business and counting down until the weekend. Then wishing I had more time with my family and more time to do the things I wanted.

The homestead with Zach was my escape. It made me feel creative, grounded, and alive in a way nothing else did. This land has been in his family for four generations. We are raising our kids here, growing our own food, and preserving everythign we can get our hands on, and making more and more from scratch.

I have a background in nursing and higher education and Zach was a former family consumer health and science teacher whose favorite class to teach was home economics. We can explain just about anything in a way that actually makes sense.

Ison Homestead is where we grow, raise, cook, preserve, and make our future what we want for our kids. Real recipes, real methods, and nothing we haven’t made or done ourselves. If you are trying to get back to the basics, or just want to make something real with our own hands, you are in the right place!

We’re happy to have you here!

Then one day, I stopped treating my dream like a side project.

February 2026 left my 9-5. I was pouring my energy into that place 7 days a week and was ready for a change. After a few weeks of job searching, I realized how much less stressed I was at home, how much more time I had to learn and do all that I used to wish I had time for. So I took a leap of faith and we started Ison Homestead. It’s the place we get to share everything we know, everything we’re learning, and we’re doing it for you!

It has always been my dream to have a website and I’m excited to finally have the time to make that dream come true.

Now I spend my days creating meals that feel good and taste good. Products from our homestead that are better for you and have fewer ingredients than you can find in the store.
Whether you’re here for a quick weeknight dinner, to learn a new skills, or purchase something we’ve hand crafted, I hope Ison Homestead makes you want to slow down, savor more, and enjoy a simpler way of life again.

I believe healthy doesn’t have to be boring. I’m here to share simple, flavorful recipes that make healthy eating something you’ll love.
